The Wilde Warriors (made up of Joe Wilde, Gaynor Porter, James Porter and Maisie Porter) are going to complete the Yorkshire Warrior obstacle race on 30th April 2017

Yorkshire Warrior is an obstacle race across tough Yorkshire countryside with hills, bogs, rivers crossings, lake crossings, slides, barbed wire, electric fence, crawling, climbing, log carrying, sand bag carrying and much, much more

We have decided to raise money to support the Violet Stephens Memorial Fund, details of which can be found at

We are now up to the incredible total of £4750 which is absolutely incredible! I'm going to leave the page open until the end of June and see if we can push the grand total up to a nice round five grand. If anyone could spare even a few pounds Alder Hey is such a good cause close to a lot of people's hearts and Violet's fund will hopefully reach their target of £37,000 Joe

WE DID IT! It was hard work, but the Wilde Warriors completed this year's Yorkshire Warrior in a time of 3 hours 18 minutes and 37 seconds. It was loads of fun, so much so that I'm considering entering a team for next years event! If anyone fancies joining me, let me know! I've put a few photos that Leanne took on the day, but there should be plenty more from around the course. I'll send out another update with the link soon. Thank you so much to everyone who has sponsored us, the total is amazing Joe

So, the football didn't go to plan yesterday, at least I've got the Yorkshire Warrior to take my mind off it! Have you seen the photo of one of the obstacles they call Killer-Manjaro? I think I'll be ok climbing up it, but not sure how we are supposed to get down? Joe

Just 1 week to go until the Yorkshire Warrior! I ran a personal best of 33:04 at the Phoenix parkrun this morning with John, I'm taking the day off training tomorrow to go to Wembley to see City in the FA Cup Semi Final. Back on the training next week before we do the big event next Sunday. If you have yet to donate, there is still time and every single penny really does count. Alder Hey need £37,000 for a new Cardio Echo machine in the Cardiac Surgery department so we really do need to raise as much as possible. Joe

Less than 2 weeks to go until Yorkshire Warrior! I'm feeling in a very positive frame of mind about it. I may have indulged in a few Easter Eggs and and a few cheeky pints over Easter but I'm sure I'll finish the course. The grand total now stands at £4263 which is incredible - thank you to everyone who has supported us so far. Hopefully we'll raise a bit more to try and help buy the specialist equipment needed in the cardio department of Alder Hey. If anyone could spare a few pounds or share this post I would be very grateful Joe

Did the parkrun again this week, 30 seconds short of my PB but happy to get around in these tropical conditions. Thanks to my old friend Jay for getting me to the finish, and I even met Dave Hutch walking his dog on the way! We are up to £4200 now - once again thank you to everyone who has chipped in. Been over to Marbury Park this morning for the junior parkrun with the kids. Harrison ran a new PB so is very pleased with himself. Happy Mother's Day to all the Mums and Nanna's out there - have a lovely day Joe

It's been my birthday this week (and my daughter's) so there has been lots of party food and cake consumed. Back to the healthy eating this week as only 6 weeks to go until Yorkshire Warrior I've done the parkrun this morning, didn't set a PB but managed to compete it without having to walk any. Thanks to John and Mike for coming with me and to a lady called Ellen who ran with me for the last lap. I got a Fitbit for my birthday so am now in a challenge with James and Vicki from work which will help get me fit for the Warrior - thanks Guys

AMAZING! We've smashed the £4000 target now. A huge thank you to each and every one of you who have so kindly donated! I did the Phoenix parkrun again this week and have set a new personal best time off 33:57 big thanks to Tubbs and John Vidamour who helped me to get round. We've just been and done the Junior parkrun in Northwich with the kids as well, it's such a lovely friendly event, I would definitely recommend it, they are all over the country. There is still quite a bit of money to come in, so lets see how much we end up with! Joe

Had a bit of a bad weekend in terms of food and booze this weekend. I still managed to do the parkrun, with my mates Mike and Neil, I managed to get round, slowest time yet of 36.59. I'm happy with that though as was out boozing until 2am after seeing Ricky Hatton at the Legion!

Did the Phoenix Parkrun again this morning. Massive thanks to Mike Frodsham for running it with me and helping me shave over a minute off my time from last week. This week's time was 35:36, hopefully as I get fitter (and lighter!) I will knock more time off. The fundraising is going really well, up to just under £3400 now - just £600 short of our final target. I have pretty much ran out of people to ask for sponsorship now. If anyone knows of any local businesses who may be willing to help out then please put us in touch Joe

As we are now quite a bit over the £3000 mark, I've decided to up the target one last time to £4000. I guess I underestimated everyone's generosity when I set the first target at £500! Alder Hey have sent us some running tops printed with their logo on this week, we will save them to wear on the big day when we do Yorkshire Warrior, but to show them off I've got the kids to model them for us! I did my first Parkrun on Saturday morning. I did the Phoenix Parkrun in Runcorn and it was brilliant! I finished in a time of 36:50

I can't believe how much money has been donated - just £50 short of £ 3,000!! Thank you so much to everyone who is supporting us. Alder Hey have been in touch this week, and they are going to provide us with T Shirts to wear while we do the Yorkshire Warrior. My training is going pretty well, I've lost 16 pounds now, and I've signed up for Parkrun. It's every Saturday at 9.00am. I'm doing my local one at Phoenix Park in Runcorn this week. If anyone fancies coming along and joining in it would be great to see you there! Joe

Managed to run 2 whole miles without having to slow down to a walk tonight. Really pleased with myself. Managed 5K in total. Might have a logo for my race T shirt sorted as well!

Wow! Thanks to everyone who has sponsored so far. I have been absolutely blown away by how many people have agreed to sponsor us and by how generous everyone has been. I thought I best give everyone an update on how I'm getting on with my training - I've shed 11lb in the past 4 weeks and have been trying to run at the gym. I've managed to build up to about 3 miles on the treadmill now, and it is beginning to get a bit easier. As you've all been so generous we have smashed our initial target so I've decided to set a new target of £2000
